I asked thousands of high school juniors to take girt questionnaires.

and then waited around more than a year to see who would graduate.

그냥 냅두고 기다리다

Turns out that grittier kids were significant more likely to graduate,

grit투지, gritty투지가 있는, grittier,   be likely to  ~할것 같다(개연성이 있을 것 같다)

 Even when I matched them on every characteristic I could measure,

~할때 조차

thinks like family income standardized achievement test scores.

It's not just(only) at West Point or the National Spelling Bee that girt matters.

투지가 중요하다

It's also in school, especially for kids at risk for dropping out.

Be at risk for ~할 위험에 처해있다   dropping out 도중하차(중퇴)

To me, the most shocking thing about grit is how little we know

a little, a few 긍정(조금 있다)/ little, few 부정 (거의 없다)
